HELLO QZ ART LOVERS!
Here are the deets on my latest creation “Golden Ashes”. This was a custom order for a client. I think she turned out beautifully and has a Native American influence! If you happen to live in Tallahassee this painting may have a slight Seminole-Florida State vibe going on (or so I’ve been told). The colors were chosen by my client who wanted to match a new rug for her living room. Mission Accomplished!
Paint colors pictured below:
- Behr paint color is ‘Silver City’, it’s a very subtle grey.
- Craftsmart colors: White, Classic Gold & Crisp Green
- DecoArt colors: Desert Sand & Dark Scarlet (satin)
To get the effect below, I created a marble pattern as shown in the video above.
I let the art dry for about 2 days.
After the paint was dry I sketched her face first with a pencil, I then painted the face using BASICS’ Black paint and a fine paint brush. I then added bronze leaf to the edges using Elmer’s glue stick. (Bronze leaf can be purchased at your basic craft store, I bought mine from ‘MICHAELS’). FYI: Faces are not my forte so this took me a bit of time. God bless the artists who have a natural talent for faces! Can we say ‘trial and error’? lol
She needed some flair so I added jewelry and used E6000 glue (purchased from Lowes) to adhere the crushed glass to the canvas. I purchase my glass from http://www.starfiredirect.com. They have a variety of colors and sizes.
The next day after the glue was completely dry I added color & contouring to this beautiful lady and some ruby red lips!
Voila!! She is finished, looking up towards the future and leaving the ashes & turmoil behind! We could all learn something from her:-)
I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for visiting QZ DESIGN GALLERY!
